What does PowerClick do?

PowerClick does two things. It adds a submenu to Finder's right-click menu with Convert, Compress for sharing, Read QR & Barcodes, Transcribe, file templates, Copy Path, Batch Rename, Copy To and Move To, Open in Editor and New File from Clipboard. It also adds ShortClick, a radial menu you open with a shortcut anywhere in macOS to launch apps, paste snippets, reuse clipboard history, run automations, scan a QR code on screen and snap windows.

Which file formats can PowerClick convert?

Photos in HEIC, PNG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF, GIF, BMP, PSD and camera RAW convert to JPEG, PNG, HEIC, AVIF, TIFF, GIF, BMP or WebP, and any image can become an ICO or ICNS icon. Videos in MOV, MP4, M4V and AVI convert to MP4 (H.264 or HEVC, 1080p or 720p), an animated GIF, or just the audio. Audio converts to AAC, Apple Lossless, FLAC, WAV or Opus (saved as a .caf file). Word, RTF, OpenDocument, HTML and text convert into each other or into PDF, Markdown converts to PDF, HTML or Word, and PDFs convert to images or plain text. Only formats your Mac can write are offered. MP3 output and MKV or WebM input are not supported.

Does anything leave my Mac when I convert, scan or transcribe?

No. PowerClick is sandboxed and has no network entitlement, so it cannot contact a server. Files are converted, compressed, scanned and transcribed on your Mac. The only downloads are the Translate and Transcribe language models, which macOS itself fetches the first time you use a language.

Can PowerClick compress a video for Discord?

Yes. Right-click a video, photo or PDF and choose Compress for, then Discord (10 MB), Email (25 MB) or Half Size. PowerClick works out the bitrate and resolution, and tells you the size before and after. If a long video still cannot fit, it says so instead of failing silently.

How much does PowerClick cost?

What macOS version does PowerClick require?

macOS 13 Ventura or later for the app. A few features need a newer macOS: Scan QR on Screen needs macOS 14, Translate needs macOS 15 and Transcribe needs macOS 26. Features your Mac cannot run are hidden rather than shown greyed out. PowerClick is a Universal app, so it runs natively on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

What is ShortClick and how do I open it?

ShortClick is PowerClick's radial menu. Open it with your own keyboard shortcut, or hold Command and Shift and right-click anywhere. The inner ring holds five categories: Apps, Snippets, Clipboard, Automation and Windows. You can also hold the trigger, flick the mouse toward an item and release to pick it without a second click.

Can PowerClick snap windows like Rectangle or Magnet?

Yes. Turn on Window snapping in the ShortClick settings and the ring gains a Windows category with twelve actions: four halves, four quarters, maximize, center, move to the next display, and restore the previous position. It uses the public macOS Accessibility API, so you grant Accessibility access once in System Settings. The feature is off until you enable it.

Which permissions does PowerClick ask for, and why?

The Finder extension needs to be enabled in System Settings. Three optional ShortClick features need one permission each: Input Monitoring for the Command + Shift + Right Click trigger, Accessibility for window snapping, and Automation for auto-pasting a snippet and reading the names of your own Shortcuts. Scan QR on Screen needs Screen Recording to capture one frame of your display. Every one of these is off until you use the feature and grant the permission.

Does PowerClick support Light mode?

Yes. Since version 2.2, Settings > Appearance offers Light, Dark or Auto, a Clear or Tinted Liquid Glass look and nine theme colours. It changes PowerClick's dashboard, menu bar popover and ShortClick ring, never your system appearance.

Does PowerClick replace the native macOS right-click menu?

No. PowerClick adds its own submenu to Finder's right-click menu. Every native macOS option stays exactly where it was.

How do I enable the PowerClick Finder extension?

Open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, then Extensions, then Finder Extensions, and enable PowerClick. The menu bar icon turns green when the extension is active.

Does PowerClick work with iCloud Drive, Dropbox, and Google Drive?

Yes. PowerClick's actions work in iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive folders just like local ones. Grant access once and PowerClick remembers it.

Can I batch rename files from the Finder right-click menu?

Yes. Select multiple files in Finder, right-click, and choose Batch Rename from the PowerClick submenu. 13 rename rules are available including prefix, suffix, sequential numbering, date prefix, and snake_case conversion.

Can I open files in VS Code directly from Finder?

Yes. Right-click any file or folder and choose Open in Editor to open it in VS Code, Cursor, Zed or any other editor you have installed.
